Still not giving up!!

Ha!

So despite the fact that it has been a year since I said I had a new plan for this blog, I still have that plan and will hopefully put it into place soon!

My hope is to have this be a starting point for people wanting to start saving money by shopping with coupons, so that I have one specific place to guide people who ask me about it!

While you wait, go visit my personal blog at http://daisysfavoritethings.wordpress.com

Blog updates!

*If this is your first time visiting my blog, go here first to learn how it works!*

I am not giving up on my blog!! I am currently working on writing some new posts and working things out so that it can be more "self-running!" Doing the deals takes up so much time as it is, that I can get quite overwhelmed with the blog updates too!

My true goal is to be able to give others a place where they can get started couponing and working the deals, then direct them elsewhere to the best sites which list the actual deals!

So hopefully sometime within the next few weeks, I'll be up and running completely!

I am also working on opening up an Etsy shop (yipes!), revamping my old blog Daisy's Favorite Things, and running some giveaways on both blogs!

So, please don't forget about me! Keep me in your reader, bookmarks, etc and get ready to see some great new things soon!

Super Savings Saturday

*If this is your first time visiting my blog, go here first to learn how it works!*

If you aren't using coupons.....here's just a little taste of what you are missing out on!

All of this......cost me....well...it cost me nothing! :o) In fact, I made money on it! Kroger is having triple coupons in Nashville stores near Harris Teeters (who are also tripling this week, but I haven't even bothered with this great stuff!!)

The above picture was 3 trips worth of stuff (3 boxes of Rice Krispies are missing because I gave them away already!). I essentially paid a little under $1 for 2 trips together, got $1.55 back in change for another (they scanned 2 coupons twice, and still gave me the money- although I promise I pointed it out and told them they should take 2 off!), AND walked out with $6 in catalina coupons which are good for my next visit off of anything in the store!

The cherry on top?? Obviously, there are more than enough items there to apply for the Kellogg's/Keebler Fuel for School Rebate, so I'll get back $10 more when I send in for that. Stupid me, somewhere between the store and the house lost a box of crackers AND my reciept but fortunately had just enough coupons to make it worth my while to go get more rebate items! How you just lose a box of crackers confuses me more than the reciept- I've had to chase those down in parking lots before because I've needed them for rebates!!

All in all, I walked away with tons of free stuff and made $15!!! Plus lots of stuff to give away! (milk, anyone??)

That's not even mentioning the 4 other trips I've made to Kroger triples.......

Sound like a lot of visits to Kroger, but since I have 2 stores participating so close to each other, I just hit them both on the way home! I don't have my exact totals on these, but I know that I spent either right at $1 or under for each trip!

Have to say, that while I hope Kroger triples come back again often, I sure hope they never get as crazy as Harris Teetter, where there are too many restrictions (Only 3 of each coupon, 2 internet coupons...way more rules!), too many people, and not enough restocking! I walked in HT the first day of triples, and walked right back out and headed to Kroger! It was the craziest time I have ever seen a supermarket- like Walmart on Black Friday (If everyone had a coupon binder on Black Friday!)

I was super mad at Kroger last week because they wouldn't let me use some coupons when I knew that they could be. But I *heart* Kroger at the moment! :o)

*If this is your first time visiting my blog, go here first to learn how it works!*

Free Movie Monday happens once a month now, so get it while you can!

Visit your local Redbox, enter in the code FIRST, then pick your movie!

Free Code: 27HZ4KT

Code expires midnight Central time tonight Aug 3rd! You can even use it more than ones if you use different credit/debit cards!

To find out if you have a Redbox location near you, visit here. Many Walgreen's, McDonald's and Walmart stores have Redbox movie "vending machines." You can also use the Redbox site to view movies at each location to make sure they have what you want before you go! Just don't reserve them online or you can't use the code!

These codes are also still working if you haven't used them yet! DVDATWAG (walgreen's stores only!), BREAKROOM, and DVDONME. That makes for a lot of free movies- just make sure you return them before 9 the next night! The regular fee is $1 per day, so not too bad either!

Harris Teeter Super Doubles

*If this is your first time visiting my blog, go here first to learn how it works!*

Another week of Harris Teeter Super Doubles starts today! Last time I made out pretty well, but I still like Triples better!

Here's the deal with Super Double Coupons-

  • Coupons under $1.99 will double
  • Really that means look for $1 and $1.50 coupons since you're not likely to find one for $1.98!
  • All other coupon rules are the same as usual (20 per day, 3 of a kind, etc., see below!)
  • Super Doubles goes from 7/22-7/28!

Basics of HT-

  1. Sign up for a reward card at customer service to get the discounted prices
  2. Register your card for e-VIC to get special email discounts!
  3. Harris Teeter doubles coupons up to .99 everyday.
  4. Occasionally the store runs TRIPLE coupons or Super Double coupons (up to $1.98) where lots of fantastic freebies can be found. Check back here to find out when that is happening!
  5. They double (or triple) 20 coupons per day, per household, which includes only 3 each of the same coupon.
  6. You can see their entire coupon policy here .
  7. They often run great Buy One, Get One free (or buy 2, get 3 free!) sales. Normally, you do NOT have to buy the required amount to get the discounted price. Ex if an item costs $2 and is BOGO, you can buy 1 at $1.
  8. You can visit their Express Lane to get prices for your local store.

A few extra tips

  • It varies by cashier as to whether or not you can use more than one coupon on a BOGO deal. If they won't let you, just ask them to take off all but one and come back later to get more!
  • Don't try to use more than 20 coupons per trip because after 20 they won't triple! (unless your ones after 20 aren't ones you want to double/triple, then you may be able to use those! Just give them last)
  • Many cashiers scrutinize every coupon during triples closely, so you may not be able to use any that say "do not double," even though the register will automatically do it if they start with a 5.
  • Free and super cheap items often run out quickly, so go early or ask what days your store gets in shipments so you can go back those days.

*Special note about prices and coupons*

I have cross checked all of these prices with our local Nashville Express Lane, so that is why you may see some variance from other lists. Although I did look up many coupons in Hot Coupon World's database, I have not verified these coupons to make sure that the printables are still available or that they perfectly match up with the products. As soon as I have verified them, I'll make any necessary changes!

Saturday Savings

*If this is your first time visiting my blog, go here first to learn how it works!*

Another crazy week has made me a little lax on posting, and on shopping, but I have gotten in a few good deals!!! I plan to hit Publix a few more times before the sale cycle ends on Tues.

CVS-

Took advantage of all of the free school supply goodies, and the free photo book which I made for our first wedding anniversary coming up next Sunday...in fact, I'm getting ready to go make another book for my friend's 30th bday present- coming up later this week! Since I had plenty of ECB's, I spent under $1 tax included for everything!

Tomorrow starts a new 3 day sale with another bunch of free school stuff- don't miss out!

Publix-

I'm wayyyy too tired to list all of these out, but I was soooo proud of this shop and all of the overage I got from it! I would've repeated several of these deals already, but I had to leave town on short notice, so I'll get there again a few times before Tues, I hope!!
Everything in the back/right was stuff I needed, that wasn't necessarily on sale- soup, frozen veggies, fresh produce, and baked beans. If there isn't a good sale, I use overage to pay for store brand items (not always cheaper if there is a sale!!). The strawberries and blue berries were much more than last week, but I used a $2/$5 Food Lion coupon along with the overage to pay for it!
My total was around $4.50- a little over $1 before tax. I miscaluculated a bit because I had an extra bandaid coupon in my stack, so I threw in some more stuff to cover the amount the coupons would take off- otherwise I would've left an item out so my total before tax was as low as possible....still I shouldn't complain about it being a $1, right?! :o)
Visit I Love Publix to see her breakdown of deals- many of which are the same as mine!
Meijer-

This was my first Meijer "shop!" I was up in OH helping my bro out with a youth camping trip, and despite being exhausted and desparately ready to get home, I couldn't pass up a chance to use some coupons on their amazing clearance deals!

I've often stopped at Meijer to check out clearance, but I've never "grocery/coupon" shopped there!

I spent around $10 on all of this- not fantastic compared to my usual shops, but not bad either!

The Kraft dressing was a money maker- on sale for $1.50, used $1/1 coupons, and got back a $2 of your next order catalina!! And paid noooo tax! Yay, for no food tax in OH! :o)

I then took that $2 coupon and bought the strawberries -$.99 GREAT price!, Gold Star chili to take home (I stopped by the restaurant to eat my fave coney's too though- it is an addiction and a MUST when I'm in Northern KY or OH!) $1.99 on sale - cheaper than buying cans at the restaurant!, and some clearance candles, scrapbook stickers and the cute shell bowl which perfectly matches my house and was only $2.25!

It was a bit of a splurge because if I had truly been frugally shopping, I would've only gotten the salad dressing then 2 strawberries and a $.14 candle probably! However, I LOVE wandering around this store checking out all the clearance...believe me I could've done more damage, and several things when into my cart only to come back out later, since I'd promised myself I wouldn't spend more than $10!
