Money Making Monday

*If this is your first time visiting my blog, go here first to learn how it works!*

Things to remember for making money online:

  1. There are lots of different ways to make a few extra bucks online. Notice, I said "a few extra bucks!" Anything that promises you $1000 a week or more, is probably a scam!
  2. I promise that I will only offer you programs that I personally have used or know some one they've worked for!
  3. Most of the legitimate ways to make money online are paid to read/click email programs and survey programs that earn a few cents or points that accumulate into cash or gift cards.
  4. I highly suggest creating a separate "junk" email account to use for things like this so your personal email doesn't get lost in it all! Hotmail, Yahoo, and Gmail are quick and easy, among many others!
  5. If you are interested in more offers that the ones I've highlighted already, check out the banners on the right side of my blog!

Welcome to Money Making Monday

Today's feature is mystery shopping!

Recently there have been several scams claiming to be shops for Western Union, where people were sent a check, asked to cash it, then use part of the money to wire through Western Union and keep the rest as their fee. Turned out, the checks were fake and they were personally responsible to pay the bank back the money they had wired.

So avoid anything like that, but there are legitimate companies!

It can sometimes be time consuming, so weigh out the pros and cons before you make your final decision to accept a job.

I've recently done several for a companies that hire mystery shoppers for cell phone stores and grocery stores. One I did for a cell phone company that I currently have a contract with (and the pay was higher because I had to be an actual customer!), that worked out nicely because I really did need to talk to someone about problems with my phone!

I've also done some for another cell phone company where I did not need to be a current customer, but I was "looking" to switch over.

You'll often be asked to perform scenarios, and I find its best to stay true to your own reality- ex: when I did the shop for another cell phone company, I explained my legitimate and real complaints about my current company such as not getting reception in an area I'm in a lot, etc. When I did a grocery shop and had to ask for advice on cooking meat from the butcher department, I asked about cooking ribs in the crockpot, which I was planning to do anyways!

Make sure it's really worth your time! My grocery shops have given reimbursements for groceries I've bought up to a certain amount, and it was at a store I wanted to shop at anyways and often feature here on my site! Even though the shop itself only paid $10 the reimbursement for groceries made it worth it!

Other ones I've passed because they are too detailed for too little pay, in my opionion. One sandwich shop I was offered required me to check out way too many details, talk to too many employees, and hand out a prize for a well done job, but barely paid anything over $5 reimbursement for a sandwich, so I passed on that one!

Here are a couple companies that I can personally reccomend if you are interested!

All mystery shopping companies are outside buisnesses that handle all shops for well known stores, so while you probably won't recognize these companies names, you will recognize the names of the stores they offer shops for.

    • GFK Mystery Shopping -pays through PayPal, grocery, cell phone, sandwich and valet parking shops. They are great about emailing new shops, emailing updates, and my contact person always quickly answers questions!
    • DSG Associates, Inc - pays by check, cell phone and financial shops (I've only done cell phone!). This one hasn't been sending me emails lately, so I check in whenever I remember to!
    • TNS - this one I can't find a place to sign up for, but I've been a member for so long I can't remember how I first did it! I've done lots of shops at major electronics retailers and a couple restaurant ones for this.
    • Focus On Service -this one is specifically for LongHorn Steakhouse. I keep trying to get a shop, but they are always filled! I do know someone who has done this one though! They reimburse your meal from $25-$35 AND offer $10 bonus for completing surveys on time. Yum!
    • Shadow Shopper - this is actually a database that puts you in contact with other companies. It is how I became a part of both GFK and DSG. They send several emails a day so definitely use your junk email! You fill out a profile, then companies can contact you for jobs when they need people to fill them. You can also pay to see who the companies are yourself so that you can sign up for them, but I haven't done that! GFK and DSG both found me and emailed me. They do offer free trials which I've considered signing up for but haven't!

Welcome to Money Making Monday!

If you haven't read my entries on Inbox Dollars, Swagbucks, or You Data, or you just haven't signed up yet...go get busy! I'm getting close to cashing out on Inbox, close to my 2nd $5 Amazon gift card with Swagbucks (and I earned my first just 3 weeks ago!), and You Data pays me every Friday!
You can always find some great money making links to the right of the page on my sidebar!

Today I'm featuring a fantastic program to save money and earn money for college!

Whether you are in college, have a child in college, still paying off your own student loans, have a family member or friend saving for college or looking to get an early start saving for your kids, UPromise.com is a great and easy way to do it!

I don't have any kids yet, since I'm still enjoying being a newlywed, but I have already started building up my UPromise.com account! We all know how every little bit counts! It's never too early to start saving!

You can also invest in a 529 to grow your money even more with less tax restrictions!

UPromise.com is great because after you connect it to your shoppers reward cards, and credit/debit cards also if you wish, it virtually saves you money on its own!

Here's an official description:

"Upromise is a one-stop college service provider that helps families earn, save and pay for higher education. With Upromise, families can automatically save money for college while making everyday purchases at grocery and drug stores, gas stations, restaurants, retail stores and online shopping sites. Upromise’s partners include Citi, ExxonMobil Corporation, McDonald’s, JCPenney.com, LandsEnd.com, Sears.com, and hundreds of others. Join now and place Upromise affiliate links on your site and offer your customers an easy and smart way to save for college! "
Here are ways you build up your account

1. Using your shopper's reward cards.

Once you sign up for UPromise, you can enter in your card numbers for all your shopper's cards such as Kroger, CVS, Harris Teeter, Food Lion, Publix and many more. Certain brand names are connected to UPromise and whenever you buy those items, you automatically earn a few cents.
Some brands are: Nestle, Charmin, Listerine, Chiquita, Elmer's, Hefty, Marzetti, and more
The great thing is, if that's as far as you want to go, you'll still earn money with the cash back on these purchases of name brands! Once your cards are linked up, it happens automatically!

2. Applying coupons to your cards.

If you've used Shortcuts or Cellfire for Kroger shopping, is works pretty much the same way. You log into your account, view coupons available and add them to your cards. The best thing is, once you add them, they can be used at ANY store you have your card linked up to! I'll try my best to add the coupons to my shopping lists so that you'll be sure to go snag it before you go shop.

The only difference is, you don't get the cash off for the coupon at the register. Instead the cash goes straight into your account. The best thing is the amounts are greater than what you earn just by buying participating products without the coupons, and current coupons are valued anywhere from $.45 to $5.00!
I usually just check in every now and then and add all coupons for items that I think there is a chance I or my mom (whose cards are linked to my account) might actually buy!

3. Shopping with credit/debit cards at restaurants.

Eating at restaurants is something we all do anyways, right? So why not earn some cash back for doing it?! You can earn up to 8% cash back! This is something that I haven't done yet, as we're trying to pay for stuff like that with cash, but it is super easy to do! Many national chains AND local restaurants are available! Go here and enter your zip code to search for restaurants in your area.

4. Shopping online

There are so many ways to get cash back while shopping online. It's not something that I personally do a whole lot of, but if you do, what better way to put your money to use that to use it to save for college? You always have to pay all the money out upfront anyways, no matter what cash back program you use, so it's a way to save without really "feeling" a loss of money because you're paying it out anyways! And don't forget to search for online coupon codes at the same time while you're shopping!

5. Shopping for airfare, in stores, buying cars, buying a home

I haven't looked into this too much, but this is the first I've ever seen for cash back on these things! You can shop for airfare on sites like Expedia.com through Upromise. There is a limited but growing number of retail stores where you shop with registered credit/debit cards for cash back. You can even get cash back through Upromise when you are looking for a car or a house!
Be sure to sign up and link up your cards! It's super easy to earn money over a long period of time to save for investing in a child's future! What could be better?!

Welcome to Money Making Monday!

If you haven't read my entries on Inbox Dollars or Swagbucks, or just haven't signed up yet...go get busy!

I'm currently using Swagbucks to get a $5 Amazon e-card (even though I said last week I was going to wait!) to pre-order this book, Totally Together Journal by the lovely Stephanie O'Dea, who you may have followed on A Year of Crockpotting. Be sure to check out her book and her sites if you want to learn more about cooking in the crockpot (she's an official pro!) or organization (something I desperately need more of!)

This week, I'm highlighting You Data!

This is one of my favorite paid-to-click sites, in that it pays EVERY FRIDAY!!! Even though it may not pay very much at a time, it adds up! I probably have earned quicker through You Data than any other paid to click program that pays actual cents per click!

My very first week, I earned a little over $4, and since then it has been a little slower, but as long as I check it each week, I've been paid each week!

Basically, after you sign up, you fill out a few surveys (called a Me File) so that the ads you see are actually things you'd be interested in based on your answers! I've discovered quite a few interesting products, and gotten paid to do it!

Since my Me File is completely filled out, I've hardly had to do any work! You don't receive any emails (other than notices you've been paid), but you click on ads from the You Data home page or download a stand-alone ad player.
If you're a frequent visitor here, I've installed the stand alone program here on my blog page (you should see some info about it in the right side bar, or see the actual program if you are a member!), so I am reminded all the time to click on my own You Data ads since they are right there! I hardly ever even have to visit their site!

What I love about their payments, is they go through PayPal, so you instantly see your payments every Friday! Also, I have a PayPal debit card, so when I'm out shopping for the great deals you'll find throughout the rest of my site, and I have a low out of pocket, I often use my PayPal debit card, so it's really like I'm not spending any money! I laughed when I looked at my account earlier and saw several $.11, $.30 transactions....not my You Data payments, but my purchases with my PayPal debit card!
I hope you'll go take a look! Every cent counts these days, so sign up to get a few more every Friday!

Welcome to Money Making Monday!

If you haven't read last week's entry on Inbox Dollars, or haven't signed up yet...go get busy!

This week, I'm focusing on Swagbucks.

Search & Win

There is absolutely no reason you shouldn't be using Swagbucks!

Basically, it is a search engine like Yahoo or Google, but instead of just giving you search results, they also give you points, which you can redeem for gift cards!

I can't think of anyone who uses the internet who doesn't need a search engine from time to time! So why not use one that actually rewards you for using it?

I downloaded the Swagbucks tool bar, which is just a little box at the top of the page that's always there so that I can quickly and easily search for whatever I need. It's just like the box that many people often have for Google or Yahoo or your individual internet provider. All Swagbucks does is replace it.

It's simple, easy and fun to see your points grow!

Also Swagbucks randomly puts out SwagCodes on their blog, on Facebook and other places that you can redeem for extra points. I'll post about these whenever I run across them, so you can grab them too!

I've only been a part of Swagbucks for a couple of months, and I've already earned enough for at least a $5 e-gift card to Amazon.com, but I'm going to hold on to my points a little while longer to get a higher value reward!

Some of the rewards they offer are movie tickets, Target, iTunes, Starbucks, and even books, electronics and an amazing amount of other options!

So, get searching and get earning points!

Today, I am highlighting Inbox Dollars!

I have been a part of Inbox Dollars for under 6 months, and I have earned over $15 already! I have about $15 more to go until I'll get a check sent my way. So while I haven't personally been paid yet, I do know others that have so I know this works!!

It's pretty simple and what the name implies it is! You earn money in your inbox by reading the emails that they send. Occasionally they send surveys and other offers that pay more than a basic "click-here-to-get-paid-for-reading-this-email" offers.

I have earned my money through a sign up bonus, clicking on emails, surveys, and signing up for completely free offers. I do NOT sign up for anything that requires a credit card, or is a free trial because if you don't cancel you will be charged.

It's one of the easiest programs I've found for earning money.

There are lots of other ways you can earn money, such as playing games online or getting cash back when you shop at online retailers. So if you're already shopping on eBay, Borders, Old Navy and similar stores, you can make your same purchases, but with cash back from using Inbox Dollar's links!

So, go get started making money with Inbox Dollars today!
